Built from grit, grind, and a little rebellion

At 18, Jake Shaver left Shreveport, Louisiana—and his family’s catering business—chasing saltwater, sparks, and something bigger. He trained and certified in underwater welding, spent years offshore, and learned fast that the oil life wasn’t his life.

So he came home—to Shreveport, to catering, and to building a life with Siobhann—and started changing direction. That path led to the Shreveport Fire Academy.

Fifteen years, three girls, countless shifts, and a few too many sleepless nights later, Jake decided it was time to build something of his own—something that carried his creativity, his work ethic, and a little bit of rebellion.

Black Sheep Concepts was born.

What started as a few repairs and custom builds from a trailer grew into a shop where steel meets story—where fire pits, smokers, grills, and metal art are built the hard way: by hand, and without shortcuts.

Black Sheep Concepts was built by and for those who don’t follow the herd—the ones who’d rather figure it out themselves than follow a rulebook. We design and build custom metal pieces the right way: hand-cut, hand-welded, and done with precision, not pretense.

Every project starts with an idea and a little bit of grit—and ends as something overbuilt, under-hyped, and made to last longer than trends ever will.

We’re called Black Sheep for a reason: we don’t follow the crowd, and we don’t cut corners.
We’re not here to blend in. We’re here to build things that last, stand out, and spark a little envy.

Because being the black sheep isn’t about being different for the sake of it—
it’s about doing it right, doing it real, and doing it your way.

Whether it’s a statement piece for your backyard or a custom build for your business, you’ll get something truly one-of-a-kind—built to stand out and built to last.
